Warren Lupel is an accomplished litigator and trial attorney who represents lawyers, judges and other clients in matters involving professional responsibility and ethics. Warren also represents businesses in a broad range of commercial litigation.

In the area of professional responsibility, Warren represents judges in disciplinary proceedings before the Judicial Inquiry Board of Illinois and the Illinois Courts Commission, and represents lawyers in disciplinary proceedings and at trial. He also counsels individual attorneys and large law firms on potential conflicts of interest, ethical obligations, employee-lawyer matters and related issues. Warren frequently serves as an expert witness in legal malpractice lawsuits and as defense counsel to individual attorneys named in malpractice litigation. He also represents attorneys and law firms in a broad range of civil litigation, from real estate disputes to conflicts involving departing attorneys.

On behalf of corporate clients, Warren represents small businesses in a broad range of commercial litigation, contract disputes and other matters.

Warren is admitted to practice in Illinois and before the U.S. District Courts for the Northern District of Illinois (including the Trial Bar), the Southern and Central Districts of Illinois, and the Eastern District of Michigan, as well as the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court.

A member of the Illinois Bar Foundation, Warren previously served as the organization’s President (2002-2004) and as a member of its Board of Directors (1995-2006). He served on the Board of Trustees of John Marshall Law School (2004-2012). He serves on the Board of Directors of the Lawyers Trust Fund, and was Chair of the Illinois Judicial Ethics Committee (1993-2012).

Warren is a member of the Chicago Bar Association, where he serves on the Commercial Litigation Committee (Chairman, 2002-2004) and the Lawyer Regulation Committee. He has also served on the CBA’s Professional Responsibility, Judicial Evaluation and Judiciary committees. As a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, Warren served as Chair of the Joint Committee on Professional Conduct and Vice Chair of the Special Committee on Ethics 2000, and was Risk Management Counsel for the ISBA Mutual Insurance Company. Since 1990, he has been a member of the Joint ISBA-CBA Committee on Judicial Compensation.
